More about who we are
ASRO was formed to support and encourage the running habit, and to provide a safe, healthy place for singles to make friends of both genders. We are open to single runners of all ages and abilities (and lack of ability), including walkers. We are just as much a social organization as a running club. We have club runs every week at various locations and of varying distances. The run schedule is posted on this site each month, and any single person is welcome to attend a run.
After every run there is an opportunity to socialize at a nearby restaurant or a member's home. We have a monthly dinner meeting, and frequently additional opportunities to dine and socialize. Some say our unofficial motto is "Run to eat!" The monthly meeting is open to all singles and is published on this site each month.
The member age range spans from the 20's through the 60's. The largest group is in their 30's and 40's. The membership is split fairly evenly between men and women. We come from diverse backgrounds, but most have college degrees or higher. Many have made good friends in the club. While the focus is on friendship, some members have dated and married other members.
The club typically has New Year's, Super Bowl Sunday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Christmas parties each year. We do road trips to races, from 5K's to marathons. Or just to get away in the mountains for the weekend, in a cabin or tent camping. People get together to see movies, concerts, plays, and other fun social activities.
