History

The club was founded by Laura Rifkin in the early 1990s, and the first run took place in November of 1993. As the area geared up for the Olympics in the mid 1990's, there was never a shortage of folks new to the area looking to get in shape and make new friends. The group grew steadily and evolved throughout the 1990s into a much larger organization with a formal executive committee, As the 1990's came to a close, ASRO had a formal 'non-profit organization' status as well as a much larger membership.

At the turn of the century, ASRO entered the information age shifted to an electronic news format, and a formal website complete with run calander and messageboard.
